Wine Academy



Take a trip around the world of wines as you are introduced to wine regions and the classic wines that make them famous.

In the FIU Wine Academy, you will learn about wine tasting and flavor profiles, detail varietal aromas, colors, bodies and finishes and gain knowledge on how to effectively describe fine wines with the most current wine vocabulary.  Discover new wine selling points or enhance your entertaining abilities and impress others with your extensive wine knowledge.

Experience the ultimate introduction to the world’s wines. Enthusiasts will develop their understanding and knowledge of more than 100 wines through tastings and lectures from experts. This program is designed for enthusiasts and professionals who seek to develop their understanding and knowledge of wine. Our experts will guide and teach you how to identify and evaluate wines, pair wines with food, and how to buy, store, serve, and even sell wine. Since 1999, numerous enthusiasts and professionals have completed this course; so before you ponder over another wine list, join us and explore the world of wine.

Come get an overview of the wine business including: importers, whole-salers, growing grapes, making wine, retailing in supermarkets, restaurants, and liquor stores, analytical tastings, matching wine and food.

This course has been taught by industry-renowned experts Patrick “Chip” Cassidy, Bill Hebrank, and the fourth Master of Wine and Master Sommelier in the world, Eric Hemer. This spring, IHTER has invited guest instructor Emilio Guerra to teach in the School’s state-of-the-art wine lab.
